March 7 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm| $50.00
We are pleased to announce our 7th annual Spero Gala, an evening to support the work of ACT Alberta.
Spero, the Latin word for hope, is the purpose of this event. We gather in response to the need for hope in the lives of children, women, and men who are victims of human trafficking. We are creating hope for those suffering exploitation by coming together as allies and changemakers. We are holding hope in our hearts as we move forward together to combat this crime that occurs across our province every day.
Human trafficking is one of the greatest human rights challenges of the century, both in North America and around the world. As individuals, it can be hard to know how to help or where to start. Spero Gala was conceived from a urge of human empathy and a desire for tangible action. When empathy and action meet, hope results. So, by attending this event, we take a step forward in carrying a message of hope to those suffering exploitation in our city, province, country and world.
Funds raised at this event go into a Victim Assistance Fund. This fund provides victims of human trafficking a means to meet their basic needs when fleeing a dangerous situation, as well as crucial longer-term supports like counselling to help them on their journey to healing.
With over 200 guests, our event, hosted by Erin Chalmers of Global TV Edmonton, will showcase some of Alberta’s performing artists (Josh Sahunta, Hewson Grey and VISSIA), creative crafters and an Alberta brewery.
The evening will include a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts.

ACT Alberta – the Action Coalition on Human Trafficking Alberta – was founded in 2007 as a special project headed by a community organization that saw alarming rates of human trafficking for purposes of mainly sex and labour among the clients they served. Over the years, ACT Alberta has grown to meet the demand of victims needing support. ACT Alberta is the leader in the area of human trafficking prevention in Alberta. ACT Alberta provides training and education to first responders and service providers, conducts research and publishes findings to influence policy and systemic change, spearheads community-specific action and confronts human trafficking in Alberta. ACT Alberta supports victims face-to-face and coordinates services to meet unique needs on a journey towards healing. ACT Alberta continues to grow as the sole agency in Alberta that specializes in human trafficking.
Thank you for being part of the critical work being done to help people live free.
