Before entering the exam room, SART decides it would be best to interview the patient alone. To do so, they must separate the boyfriend from the patient so they can speak to her in private.

[You are tasked with separating the boyfriend. You enter the exam room and say:]

CHOOSE ONE AND READ:

• “It’s hospital policy for visitors to leave the room while a pelvic exam takes place. Can you please wait over here?”

• “You said you wanted information on possible pregnancy options. Come to my office and I’ll get you those resources. My colleague will wait with your girlfriend in the meantime.”

• “We have to obtain a urine sample from your girlfriend. Let’s give her some privacy.”

• Anything else you want to try!

[Wait for the boyfriend to respond – he may give you some push back but be persistent and keep trying!]
