ACT Alberta launches new online learning platform
ACT Alberta is proud to announce the launch of our new Learning Management System (LMS), an online training platform that makes it easier than ever for Albertans to access education on human trafficking.
Through this new platform, participants can now take Human Trafficking 101: Community Member Essentials anytime, anywhere, and at their own pace. This introductory course provides community members with foundational knowledge about human trafficking in Alberta. The training covers definitions of human trafficking, types and purposes, vulnerabilities and indicators, and ways to support victims and survivors.
The LMS features interactive elements such as case studies, videos, and knowledge checks to keep participants engaged while building real-world skills. Learners can easily register, complete the modules at their own pace, and receive a certificate of completion once finished.
The launch of ACT Alberta’s LMS marks an important step forward in expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based training across the province. “This platform allows us to meet learners where they are,” says Carey Collins, Executive Director of ACT Alberta. “Not everyone can attend an in-person session or fit our Lunch and Learns into their schedule, but that shouldn’t be a barrier to learning. Our goal was to make this training accessible, engaging, and impactful no matter where and when participants are joining.
Human Trafficking 101: Community Member Essentials is currently the first course available on the platform, with additional trainings to be added in the coming months, offering deeper learning opportunities for service providers, educators, and community leaders.
This new online learning environment reflects our continued commitment to education, collaboration, and prevention. By expanding access to training, we’re equipping more people with the awareness and tools to make a difference in the lives of victims and survivors of human trafficking.
