Victim Services and our Pathways to Safety program

ACT’s Victim Services team leads the Pathways to Safety (PTS) program. The PTS program supports the needs of victims and survivors of human trafficking by connecting them with an accredited social worker who provides specialized case management. Some of the help our clients receive includes:

• Face-to-Face Support:
  ACT is an immediate link to a judgement-free safe space where you will get the support you need to find your path to safety.
• Legal and Court Support:
  Advocacy, legal support, and attending court alongside survivors to provide emotional aid.
• Basic Needs:
  Providing or coordinating referrals for basic needs that include shelter, food, and trauma counselling.
• Personal Safety:
  Risk and needs assessments and safety planning.
• Reporting Abusers:
  If you choose to report, we can help with filing claims, reporting abusers, and informing the appropriate enforcement and regulatory bodies.
• Documentation Aid:
  We can help navigate legal processes including residency applications and work permit applications. ACT assists with form completion including law enforcement forms, Temporary Resident Permit for Victims of Human Trafficking applications, Labour Standards’ and/or Human Rights' complaints, and referral/intake forms for partnering agencies.

Where We Work

ACT Alberta works province-wide, both in urban centres and in rural and Indigenous communities. While our team works out of ACT’s Calgary and Edmonton offices, we travel regularly and keep contact with clients and stakeholders over the phone and through video conferencing.
